What features does a sustainable hotel in Oberstdorf have?
It’s a valid question – and one that many businesses find difficult to answer. We answer it with figures and technology rather than buzzwords: here you can read about the measures we’ve implemented at Hotel Filser since 2015, what impact they’ve had, and where we’re still in the process of implementing them.
Our housekeeping team will automatically clean your room every two days – helping save energy, water, and cleaning products. Linen is changed upon request or automatically every four days. Prefer daily cleaning? No problem – just let reception know.
Between 2015 and 2018, we carried out a comprehensive modernisation of the heating system at Hotel Filser. Four separate oil-fired heating systems in our buildings were replaced by a central energy plant comprising two gas condensing boilers, each with a capacity of 400kW. Around 20 older heating pumps have been replaced by modern Grundfos MAGNA3 pumps, and hot water is now supplied via new charging systems. In addition, there’s a combined heat and power unit with an electrical output of around 20kW and a thermal output of 40kW, which generates both electricity and heat simultaneously for the hotel’s operations. All buildings – including the holiday apartments – are connected to the main building via a central control system, enabling the systems to be controlled and monitored collectively.
We’ve made a conscious decision not to make empty environmental promises. Instead, we prefer to show you transparently which technical measures we’ve actually implemented.
Modern technology saves resources: Thanks to plate heat exchangers and high-efficiency pumps, hot water is provided in a smart, eco-friendly way.
Almost all lighting at our environmentally friendly hotel uses LEDs – reducing energy use while creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.
You’ll find our guest information in the digital room folder. We no longer need printed folders or leaflets.
Our indoor pool features heat exchangers that lower energy consumption without compromising comfort.
What we serve at breakfast and as part of our culinary offering comes (wherever possible) from the Allgäu region.

We offer free bike hire, an e-bike rental for our guests, and discounted e-bike hire for our team.
Team members can use e-car subscriptions through the hotel – helping everyone play their part.
